Alone in the Wilderness

I saw a grown man literally jump out of his chair when this documentary happened to turn up on TV at our house last weekend.  I think that is good enough for a recommendation here on TTT!  This guy retired at 50, moved to remote Alaska, built a cabin by hand and then lived there for the next 30 years. Check out a clip here.

My Fitness Pal

Lose weight with this app which gives you free access to the world’s largest nutrition and calorie database — over 5 million foods!  It is pretty incredible and you really start to notice how much you eat and the quality of the food you eat once you begin tracking. That which is measured and reported improves exponentially.

From their website: “We believe — and medical studies prove — that the best way to lose weight and keep it off is to simply keep track of the foods you eat. Gimmicky machines and fad diets don’t work, so we designed a free website and mobile apps that make calorie counting and food tracking easy.”

Fermi Paradox

Get ready for your head to hurt. This is one crazy (and awesome) blog post.

Quote (poem?): What is Success?

To laugh often and much;

To win the respect of intelligent people
and the affection of children;

To earn the appreciation of honest critics
and endure the betrayal of false friends;

To appreciate beauty;
To find the best in others;

To leave the world a bit better, whether by
a healthy child, a garden patch
or a redeemed social condition;

To know even one life has breathed
easier because you have lived;

This is to have succeeded.
